Sunday 21st was the first club competition and around nine boats assembled at the Harbour entrance waiting for the claxon to sound. At 09.30hrs the commodore duly obliged and off went the boats in all different directions. Excalibur headed along the coastline eastwards towards the cuckmere sandflat in search of some plaice. After a quick trip at 18 knotts into the tide we anchored up and were fishing by 10.00hrs. Dab after dab took our worms in the sixty feet of water we were fishing in along with the odd whitig and a mackeral! Two Plaice were landed too as the sea kicked up some white water at 2pm. We had a rather hairy steam back with waves smashing us about from the port side but made it back safely to denton. It was good to get the old girl back at sea and come back with something to weigh in. Bob's old boat with its new owners docked just after us with some nice Plaice and soon after a box load of pollack were weighed in by another boat. Cant wait for next trip where we will target some Bass and smoothys!
